Two kinds of people need an account here: someone who owns a boat, and someone who sells boats for other people.
Buying a boat? You do not need an account.
Browsing, searching, comparing, asking a seller a question and posting what you are looking for are all free without signing in. There is no members-only market here, no better price behind a login, and no order this page can change.
An account adds one thing for a buyer: a request you posted stays yours, so you can come back and change or delete it. We cannot do that with an anonymous one, because we cannot prove it was yours.
Signing in changes what you can change
There is no password on Lista, in demo or in live. In live mode the door is your electronic ID — BankID, MitID or eIDAS.
This is a demo identity. There is no password and no check — picking a name here proves nothing about who you are. In live mode this page is BankID, MitID or eIDAS. Nothing you do while signed in as a demo identity can take real money.
Walking the demo as a buyer? . You do not need this to look. It exists to show the one thing an account adds: requests you can come back and change.
A name you create here is held by the cookie in this browser and by nothing else. Sign out and it is over for good on this instance — the name stays taken and we cannot give it back, because nothing here could prove it was yours. Only the identities above can be picked up again.
Your session lives in a signed cookie, not a database. It ends when this server restarts, and on a shared demo a refresh can land on a different server and sign you out. We would rather say that than pretend the session is durable.
